Everything I Love About Geek Charming

Image
[Hold up! You probably already guessed, but this has spoilers for the Disney Channel film Geek Charming] I'm a sucker for DCOMS(Disney Channel Original Movies). Are they high-quality cinematography? Normally, no. Are they super deep and life-altering stories? No. But are they fun and dumb and good for a laugh after a long day? Heck yeah. And that's why I like them. I'm not really in love with any of their promotional images for this movie, so I guess we're going with this one. Geek Charming  is basically just another Disney channel movie, but there are some unique things about the plot that make it stand out to me, so I'm going to rant about it because I have a blog and because I can. XD From IMDB, a not-super-stellar blurb: To win a school popularity contest, a high school diva permits a film club classmate to record her popular life, but the film starts documenting her decline instead. Yeah, it's not the best synopsis, but I can't come up with any better o

Please can we bring back the Protector characters?

Image
I'm just going to include the hot take right here up front: I think the protector character has fallen out of style because our society has become extremely focused on the self. Social media and just modern-day society, in general, has us constantly questioning ourselves: Who am I , who do I want to be, how can I become everything I want to be? And I think because of this, all our characters end up with that same mindset. They wonder who they are, and how they can become everything they want to be. Thus, characters like the Protector are no longer written because a lot of people no longer wonder instead about how they can help and protect others. But it's not too late to fix that. ;) So who is the protector character? I don't know about you, but when I think of a protector character my mind automatically goes to the gentle giants. Like Fezzik from The Princess Bride . Characters who are big and strong, but are so sweet and care so much about their friends that

Talking about my current WIP (feat. my super lovable idioits)

Image
I realized just the other day reading Lacy's post about her WIPs that I haven't talked about mine in who knows how long! I talk about it constantly on my Instagram and Twitter(where you should be following me, btw), but very seldom on the blog! I give monthly updates in my wrapups, but do I really talk  about what the story is about? No. AND WHY ON EARTH HAVEN'T I??? I don't know. But we're fixing that, okay? Here we go. Here's the working cover for the novel right now. It's obviously not going to be the permanent cover when it gets published because this one is home-made and not that good, but for now, this is what we got: Robbing Centaurs and Other Bad Ideas, or RCOBI for short because it's such a mouthful to say Robbing Centaurs and Other aBad Ideas every. Single. Time I mention it, is a YA fantasy comedy. I'm still not sure if 'comedy' is the word to use, but I'm trying to tell you that I poured my heart and soul into making it funny

Writing Music I've Been Obsessed With Lately

Image
I don't know about you, but I have to listen to music while I'm writing or else there will be no productivity. Period. Mainly I listen to a lot of epic music or lofi because 1) They boost my productivity, 2) I can just find mixes and don't have to look for anything specific, but I do like to listen to soundtracks too when I can think of a good one. Most of the time, I don't listen to albums when I'm trying to write, because while I can sometimes listen to music I already know and maintain my focus, it doesn't always work out, and when I'm distracted while trying to write it's no fun at all. So here's all my favorite music for writing that I've been obsessed with lately: The Untold https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22MpXAD_uwU&list=PLm2rgd597ZWmiTfZDVfU1_X2K585F9eRO&index=17&t=5s Super dark and epic music that works so well for writing because the music sounds like it's meant for specific moments in a story! I love it. Audio

I couldn't think of a post for today so here are 3 Instagram stories templates you can use

Image
Seriously, I am dried up for ideas today! So here's hoping that anyone actually opens this post. *laughs nervously* ANYway, here are three splendiferous templates that I made myself for Instagram stories! You can follow me on Instagram if you want btw, my handle is  @scribbledfiction , or you can just click on the handle to be taken straight there! I made this one first, when I first realized I could make templates in Picmonkey(free website, btw, so good! Some of the features cost money, but you can also use it without a subscription) As for the template, all you do is mark off all the terrible things you've done to your characters. XD This one is for your novel soundtrack!! I got so excited about this one. Come to think of it, I made this one in quarantine as well. Quarantine is officially too long now. Anyway, you put the questions sticker on it and people can put in numbers telling you what song from your playlist they want you to share. It's fun! This is the new! ...The

Words That Only Hurt Writers (A Humor Post)

Image
As writers, by definition we love words. But not all the words. As a writer, some words are just hurtful to me. The words below are the words that hurt me the most. XD Comment with your worst words if I missed any! Words That Only Hurt Writers It's good, BUT... Noooooooooo spare me from this one. When someone tells me something was good, but. Why does there always have to be a but? Why can't anyone just adore my writing for the flawless works of genius that they are?? Rewrite Hisssssssssssssss. Begone, fell beast! Speak not to me of rewriting! For real, I hate rewriting. Not as much as I used to(as in I used to turn over in my future grave when I realized something had to be rewritten), but it's still not my favorite part. I just wanna write it perfectly the first time, is that too much to ask? Unnecessary Another word that kills me in feedback. Nooo none of the words I have written are unnecessary! I may have written the same thing three different ways in th

On Cutting Out Toxic People

Image
I want to talk about the whole thing of cutting out toxic people. The internet and everyone on it seems to be screaming that the only way to be happy is to cut every toxic person out of your life. And who are these toxic people? Take a look around. According to the internet, everyone you love is hurting you, all of them are toxic or abusive in some way. Because if they don't give you their full attention every moment of the day, if they don't understand your every nuance perfectly, if they don't always understand exactly what you want and when you want it, do they really love you? I've been thinking about this topic a lot lately, and I'm gonna be honest with you. I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Like yeah, sometimes a relationship with a person can get to a point where it's only causing you harm, and I get that, believe me, I do. But I don't think it's very Christlike to go and cut off your loved ones the moment you start to feel unh

April 2020 Wrapup

Image
So. April. Pretty sure I didn't do much in April because everything is shut down, but let me check the reliable tracker of my activities- my camera roll. So, according to my camera roll.... yup, I did very little in April. A heck of a lot of art and puzzles. I also built a tiny beach house, which has the cutest tiny plant and surfboards in it!!! I dyed the pages of this book: And had Easter with my family. Other than that it's just a ton of art, a ton of reading, and some messing around with makeup and fashion to pass the time. I grew up homeschooled, so aside from not having any work right now, the current situation isn't too foreign to me, so I'm just using my many, many hobbies to help keep me busy. Soooooooo most of April was just me waiting for beta readers to get back to me. I'm still waiting for them to finish the last bits of the line editing, so right now I'm mostly just working out some plot holes and whatnot on paper while I
