8 Good Reasons Why My Characters Should *not* Hate Me

Image
It's a commonly known fact that I treat my characters well, at all times, and don't ever have anything bad happen to them. ^-^ In fact, there's probably no one in the world that my characters love more, including their own love interests. Huh, where did those love interests go now? Haha, they always seem to be disappearing. Who knows where they go? Definitely not into a dark pit of torture! My character definitely don't  hate me because: Nothing bad ever happens to them. Nothing, ever. They live lives of happiness and relaxation, all thanks to me. When bad things somehow do  happen to them, I always give them plenty of time to recover.  How are they going to get over the trauma if I burn down their houses first, you know? How sad it would be if I just piled countless bad things on them from beginning to end with all of one scene in which nothing goes wrong? All the other characters are always their friends.  And would never hunt them for sport, either. ^-^ There is ...

Kinds of NaNoWriMo Participants(a funny post)

Image
Here we go again with putting everyone in categories! There are probably a million that I've missed, but here are some of the most common or most prominent kinds of people who participate in NaNoWriMo. Here we go! 1. Doesn't have an outline and freezes halfway through Honestly, I sometimes feel this way even with an outline 2. Jumps in at the last minute Me watching from a distance to see if you can make it 3. Is ready with a18-point plan months ahead of time Mad respect, my friend 4. Writes 80k in week 1 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we all hate you. Seriously, why are you here? 5. The 5 am writer Whether you get up at 5 am to write or if you write until 5 am, this is what you look like to the rest of us 8. The 'I wanna drop out and take my time, this novel i...

Why having a cat is super unhelpful(this is satire I promise!!)

Image
You're a writer, they said. Get a cat, they said. Does this really look like the face of intelligence to you? I'm here to tell you that cats are the most unhelpful creatures to have around while you're trying to write. I've had this cat for years, and I have a solid list of reasons why they don't help you write. My very authentic and real reasons why cats are useless(not kidding at all here, no sarcasm in this vicinity): They sit on your chair when you're trying to write. Seriously, what is this perfect toe touch? Even if you get to the chair first, the second you get up to pee, they'll. Be. Waiting. And they will rob your chair from you once again. Or your bed. They don't care where you're sitting, they just know they want it. And if you manage to somehow keep ahold of the chair, they'll just sit there next to you and look all adorable and distract you from your writing. I mean look at this. How can I be expected to write when this is sitting ri...

When you need boy reference pictures but you're awkward

So I'm back to announce another youtube video. This one might be a little less relatable, but it's something that happens to me and you'll probably find it funny anyway. Anyway I'm tired so I'm just going to cut to the chase and put the video here. If the video isn't showing up for any reason, here's the link so you can watch it on YouTube:  Link Thoughts? Wanna tell me it's unrelatable? XD Tell me in the comments!

Watching the approach of NaNoWriMo, told in Trollhunters gifs

Image
Why this post today, you ask? I just wanted to do one of the 'told by gifs' posts again, ok?? Gifs are a gift to humanity(yes, the gif pun was intended) and they're great for meme-making when they're taken totally out of context. Furthermore, I just realized that this is the month I need to start brainstorming for November, and I chose Trollhunters gifs because obviously that show is absolutely amazing and Jim is my child and I would 100% take a bullet for any of the characters unless it's Merlin. *spits on the ground* May Merlin be eaten by a big ugly goblin. One day you look up and realize that the beginning of NaNoWriMo is only 30 precious days away! *le gasp* However you are a seasoned pro, so you know you'll be ready in time. You feel ready to enter the world you've created in your head. Until all of a sudden it's October. Enter stress-eating Live footage of prep season kicking your butt. You try ranting about your troubles to your friends, but they...

my writing at age 12 vs now

Image
So I actually started hardcore writing at age 11. But for the writing I'm referencing I'm going to use age 12 because 1) it looks better in a title and 2) that was when I really got into the swing of writing. At the time I knew absolutely nothing about writing, or editing, or plot structure, or... rules, basically. And I'm not going to deny that having no rules was incredibly  freeing, but now that I've learned the rules I realize how much better it might have been for me if I knew anything about writing. There are a lot of significant changes that have happened in my writing in the 9ish years since I started so I thought why not make a fun post about it? If you want to grab this as a tag sorta thing, go for it. Let's see everyone's writing glow-ups! age 12: wrote so much at once that I had to limit myself to 3 WIPs at a time now: can really only handle one main WIP, sometimes might do a short story on the side age 12: wrote like crazy, wrote a ton constantly, h...
