6 Places You Can Write If There's Nowhere Else

Forget what you're gonna write, where are you gonna write it?

As a writer, I know very well the struggle that we all go through trying to find a quiet place to write. Living room? Too late, someone's watching TV. Your room? Lol, both of your sisters are in there right now, and one of them is listening to an audiobook. The kitchen? Forget about it, you'll have people in every five minutes to get a drink or chat or whatever.

It seems the situation is hopeless.

But worry not! For I, your writerly guardian angel, am here with great news: You've got more options.

So, since I have a cold today and I can't think anything further than that, let the list begin!

Other places you can write in are:

  1. A coffee shop. A true classic in writer history. Get out your earphones, blast your music, and write away to your heart's content (it is highly advised to do this while partaking of a cup of coffee)
  2. Your porch. Or your yard. If you have a big enough porch, shove a chair out there and enjoy the breeze while you write! In some cases, I would suggest a pair of sunglasses to go with this, but sitting out in the breeze while writing is a lovely experience.
  3. Your laundry room. Okay, there has to be at least one room in your house where it's quiet. Your laundry room might be your best bet, or a walk-in closet, a large bathroom, or literally any quiet nook will work for your writing. You just have to find the quiet corner.
  4. The park. This might not work for you if you don't want to leave your house just for writing, but if you have one nearby, writing in a park can be lovely.
  5. Your garage. Garages are an age-old fallback for placing your hobbies and current projects. Set up a desk in the corner if you want and write away to your heart's content.
  6. If worst comes to worst, just use your car. Especially the back seat. You can put your feet up! It's a nice, soundproof, air-conditioned zone you can utilize if you so need. In a small house, this might be the backup you were looking for.
Like I said, I'm not feeling 100% today, so that's probably where I'll end this for today. Hope this gave you some good ideas, or at least a starting point if you needed to find a new place to write.

Did any of these prove helpful? What's your favorite place to write? Tell me in the comments!
