The Writer's OTP Challenge Tag(ft. my few sweet otp babies)

Image
Massive confession here: I don't write a lot of romance. I am well known for being the one and only Big Ball of Nope when it comes to romance, whether I'm writing it or reading it or just... it makes me really uncomfortable. *nervous laugh* So because I am the one and only Big Ball of Nope about romance, I haven't written many romances. When I was first planning to do this tag, I was worried I'd only have like 3 romances to reference, but I went through my many many notebooks and I've actually found some! I have a whole post-it note in front of me full of names. Now, there are 14 questions in this tag, and I definitely don't have even that many otps(otp stands for one true pairing, or in other words a romantic couple, for those of you who didn't know), but I'm gonna do it anyway because the few romantic children I do have deserve some attention. Anyway, I totally stole this tag from Kenzie , but it was kindly shared with my hapless blogging self by  Nico

Everything I Love About Eddie Brock as a Character

Image
Ah, Eddie Brock. Look, if you didn't enjoy Venom, we need to have a serious talk. Because that movie was amazing, even if the trailers were totally false advertizing from beginning to end. Sure, it could have been spruced up in a couple small ways, but ultimately I think it was an amazing movie and I am always in the right mood to watch Venom. I think one of the primary reasons why I loved the movie so much was because of Eddie Brock. That guy was a fantastically written character and actually had a lot more depth than I expected?? (also are we going to talk about how Tom Hardy's American accent sounds more realistic than his actual, real-life British accent? I don't get it.) So if you don't mind, I'm about to gush about Eddie Brock and pretend it's a real post(jk it's a real post, plz don't leave :|  ) Always wants to do what's right(to a fault) If I had to describe Eddie's character at the bare minimum, I'd just say that he wants to do what

Casting Cares

Image
I don't know about you, but I've been feeling super  stressed lately. It might be trying to get back into the swing of normal life after lockdown. It probably has something to do with how the store I work at is seriously understaffed right now, leaving everyone in the building overworked and overwhelmed. It might be that editing was going good, but now I'm stuck again. It could come from a number of sources, but the fact remains: I'm really stressed out. And there's really only one surefire solution for the stress. Sure, you can take hot baths and listen to calming music, and those are great ways to relieve stress, but what God asks us to do is this:  1 Peter 5:7       Cast  all  your  anxiety on him because he  cares  for you.  Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let  your  requests be made known to God.  The solution is simple, black and white: cast your cares on God. Pray. Confess your

Things I Want To See More in Stories

Image
I haven't done a list post in a while, and this isn't exactly a list post, not like  A List of Quirks To Give Your Character  or  Subtle Details You Can Add To Your Character's Look , but I think all of these things need a little more attention and a little more representation in stories. So without further ado, let's go! Platonic relationships I can't stress this enough. People can be friends. Just friends. They don't have to get romantically involved. People can care about one another and be willing to die for one another and hug each other and not fall in love. Some friendships be strong like that. Parents and siblings that are involved in the conflict Pretty sure right now the only stories that let parents or siblings get involved in the main story are contemporary stories. Y'know, realistic fiction and stuff. Why can't the parents get involved in other genres? Horror, fantasy, science fiction, steampunk, all of those? Families should be involved mor

my writing at age 12 vs now

Image
So I actually started hardcore writing at age 11. But for the writing I'm referencing I'm going to use age 12 because 1) it looks better in a title and 2) that was when I really got into the swing of writing. At the time I knew absolutely nothing about writing, or editing, or plot structure, or... rules, basically. And I'm not going to deny that having no rules was incredibly  freeing, but now that I've learned the rules I realize how much better it might have been for me if I knew anything about writing. There are a lot of significant changes that have happened in my writing in the 9ish years since I started so I thought why not make a fun post about it? If you want to grab this as a tag sorta thing, go for it. Let's see everyone's writing glow-ups! age 12: wrote so much at once that I had to limit myself to 3 WIPs at a time now: can really only handle one main WIP, sometimes might do a short story on the side age 12: wrote like crazy, wrote a ton constantly, h

Random things I have on my desk and why they're there

Image
I wanted to write a real-life-problems, sit-down-and-chat kind of post today on my thoughts about current events, but as of yet, I can't get my thoughts streamlined into something that would make sense or something that wouldn't just feel all-around negative. So I guess that particular post is going to have to wait for a later date. Instead, we're going for the random. XD Let's talk about what stuff I have on my disaster of a desk! An alarm clock Why is it here? Because I need to know what time it is. Sure, there's a clock already on my computer screen, and there's one on my phone, too, but when I'm working on something that isn't on my laptop, and I don't really want to be looking at my phone, the alarm clock is here. A tiny gold trophy Why is it here? It's the writing sprint trophy! My dad won it in an RC car race years ago, and he gave it to me, so now when we do writing sprints during NaNoWriMo, whoever writes the most words the fastest gets

June Wrapup 2020

Image
So. June. Here's the good news: I'm back to work! I don't remember if I actually mentioned this, but for two and a half months I was on furlough due to covid. Mid-June, I got to go back to work! I'm just starting to get a balance back between home life and work life and I'm so glad to have my job back. And to be making money again. XD So for the first part of June writing felt like it was going good. But now it... doesn't. I don't know what happened. Maybe it's just the HUGE CHAPTER I'M REWRITING. Or maybe it's just mental exhaustion over trying to write and work again. I don't know. But I'm a little in a rut with writing right now. That's not to say I'm not writing. I'm doing it. I'm just hating every word I put down *laughs uncomfortably* And I'd take a creative break, but I know I'm just stuck, and coming back to it really won't make me get unstuck. So I'm just trying to push through the redraft of this
