I couldn't think of a post for today so here are 3 Instagram stories templates you can use

Image
Seriously, I am dried up for ideas today! So here's hoping that anyone actually opens this post. *laughs nervously* ANYway, here are three splendiferous templates that I made myself for Instagram stories! You can follow me on Instagram if you want btw, my handle is  @scribbledfiction , or you can just click on the handle to be taken straight there! I made this one first, when I first realized I could make templates in Picmonkey(free website, btw, so good! Some of the features cost money, but you can also use it without a subscription) As for the template, all you do is mark off all the terrible things you've done to your characters. XD This one is for your novel soundtrack!! I got so excited about this one. Come to think of it, I made this one in quarantine as well. Quarantine is officially too long now. Anyway, you put the questions sticker on it and people can put in numbers telling you what song from your playlist they want you to share. It's fun! This is the new! ...The...

If you wanted to see all the Outlining 101 posts in one place, look no further! This post is the culmination of the series, and this is the one with the PDF in it, if you happened to be looking for that one in my sea of posts. Firstly, here are the links to the individual posts, in order that I posted them: Main Characters/Overall Antagonists Secondary Characters The Mentor And now, as promised, I am including a PDF of printable worksheets for all your characters! Rather than just copying all these questions into a notebook, you can print up the sheet and just fill it out on the lines. You're welcome, and enjoy! Character Outlining 101- How I Outline the Mentor

Image
The mentor can be a complicated character to write. Finding a mentor for your protagonist can be a complicated business in the first place, and then on top of all that they have to be a fully fleshed-out character while being somehow wiser than the protagonist is. But fret not. I have just the tools to help you build a good one. Let's go! I don't know about you, but my favorite mentors are the ones that are unexpected. The little red dragon who is determined to help Mulan succeed and prove his own worth at any cost. The guy in the mountains who helped Batman reach his fullest potential before (*SPOILERS*) ultimately becoming the villain. The fallen demigod set on getting back his magic hook and redeeming his standing with the gods. Those mentors. The unexpected, imperfect, beautifully flawed mentors. Unfortunately, I have no surefire tips for helping you identify who your mentor other than this: Who helps your protagonist move forward and who does your protagoni...

Archer and the Girl (A short story)

Image
So, here we have another short story. I was planning to write the one for this month from scratch, but there are two reasons I ended up not doing that: 1) ultimately I was having trouble coming up with a new story right now 2) It was just valentine's day, and this story was a little valentine's-y, as you probably guessed from the title ;) Before we start the story, a little context: Archer's family situation is. . . complicated. (stuff that will be explained in the sequel to Robbing Centaurs and Other Bad Ideas ) His relationship with his brother is the worst of all his problems. His brother has been a bane of mine in writing, trying to figure out why he is the way that he is and why he does what he does. The worst part is his name. The working name when I was originally drafting the story was Omen, just something I put in there on the fly knowing I would change it, now his name is Alder, which I'm questioning because it might get confused with Archer's n...

Free Writer Wallpapers For Your Computer!

Image
I've been wanting to put my amateur graphic design skills to the test again and make some pretty graphics for this blog again. So what I decided to do was make some computer wallpapers and even a few posters for your computer or writing area that you can download for free! So here you are! First the wallpapers! That second one is my personal favorite. :) Now for the posters! Doesn't that last poster just inspire you?  If you want to download or use any of these, just right-click on any of them and click save as.  If you're on your phone just press down on the image and a button that says download image  should appear. All of these should work fine as a desktop wallpaper or to print out as a poster, but if you want me to make any mobile wallpapers, just let me know! Now go! Write your novels! Be amazing! And I'll see you on Monday for another post!
