How to Create Beautiful Worlds As Told By Studio Ghibli Movies

Image
Nothing can capture beauty and wonder quite like Studio Ghibli movies. If you've never seen one, get thee hence and watch one. I would highly recommend My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirited Away(from which I stole the image for this particular post). Their director, Miyazaki, is a master of creating incredible,  beautiful worlds for his movies, whether the movie is set in the real world or one he created, and I never get over how lovely and unique they are. I would very much like to live in one of them, so if someone could get me a train ticket, that would be lovely. How to Create Beautiful Worlds (As Told by Studio Ghibli) 1. Not everything has to be explained. Miyazaki movies do the exact opposite of an infodump. They leave a lot of things unexplained. Why can't we eat the food of the ghosts? You don't know! Why is this promise bound by magic but not that one? He won't tell you! How does th

Presenting the NaNoWriMo Humor Sketches!

Image
As promised it's here!!!!!!!!! So, I originally had the NaNoWriMo humor video all lined up to be one video all put together, but as I edited, it worked better as individual short sketches. So I took the footage and edited it into five short sketches that I have already or will put on my Scribbled Fiction Instagram account( @scribbledfiction ). And so. Here. Is. The. Video!!!!! (again, if you're on mobile or viewing from the email, it might not show up, so click the blue link at the top of the email to take you to the post on my blog and the video will appear) So did you like it?? If you did, leave me a comment or go to YouTube and like the video! It's good to know that my content has been enjoyed! :D We're almost to the end of November, my peeps! We can do this! NaNoWriMo Update

Image
Today's post was supposed to be announcing a NaNoWriMo humor video on my YouTube channel, but that isn't ready yet *cough* (because I was too lazy about shooting it) *cough*, but that should be up by the end of the week, Lord willing. So today we're doing a NaNoWriMo update instead! I have given very few updates this month, so here's one for you! I'll probably do a post for NaNoWriMo overall at the end of the month or at the beginning of next month, but today's is just a little update of how it's going so far. So, how is it going? I will never get over stopping for the day and seeing that I stopped at exactly 10k.  This novel has turned out a lot longer than I thought it would be, at least so far. I might end up with a really short third act that ruins everything, but right now I'm at almost 40k and I just passed the midpoint a few days ago. So yikes. If the rest of the novel keeps with the lengthiness that I've dealt with so far, it will

Calling all WriMos: **I'm hosting 2 Write-Ins!!!**

Image
Hello, all my WriMos, and congratulations on making it this far in NaNoWriMo. You're doing great! We're almost halfway through and going strong, right? Right?? Right! Well, I have good news for you, my dear fellows. If you have no writing buddies, or you just enjoy doing events with other WriMos, I am hosting two write-ins this month for you to take part in! So now we get to the important question: What is a write-in?? A write-in, my dear friends, is when a writer or a group of writers sets up a specific time and place (it can be a physical place or a live place on the internet) where WriMos can reach their daily word count together. And I am doing exactly that! Twice!! So when and where are they?? Write-in #1 is going to be virtual. It will be this coming Monday, November 18th. I'm going to host it on my Scribbled Fiction Youtube channel, which is linked here:  Scribbled Fiction  It's going to be at 2 pm EST. 'll give us probably a five to ten mi

An Introduction to My NaNoWriMo WIP

Image
This was supposed to have been posted on Tuesday, but I forgot!! Oh well!! (Just so you know, for the month of November I'm planning only to post on Tuesdays, no Thursday posts this month just to make writing easier on myself) But anyway!! Onward! Because today I get to talk about my NaNoWriMo project!!!!! It's too late to leave now. You've fallen under my spell, and now you must listen to this. >:-))) So we begin! The Title:   It took me significantly too long to title this project, especially after thinking about it for about a year and a half before actually starting to write it, but the title we're going with is Robbing Centaurs and Other Bad Ideas,  which I feel like is funny and kind of captures the tone I'm going for with the book. The Blurb: I worked very hard creating this blurb and it still doesn't feel right, but please appreciate it.  Two valuable artifacts have been stolen from different territories in the country of Aro, and now W
