Want Some New Writing Music? Here's a List!

If you're anything like me, focusing while writing can sometimes feel about as easy as rocket science. But for me, music helps me to focus (especially when it's epic!!). So here's a list of the best music I can find to help.

If you want a radio:

Playlists from HDSoundDI
This channel has playlists of Epic Music, Emotional Music, Heartfelt Music, and even Battle Music (great for writing those climaxes!) It's perfect for keeping the momentum going while you write,

Epicmusictime.com
Pretty sure I've talked about this one before, but here we are again! It's literally just a website that plays really epic instrumental music. Just hit play and that's it. You're all set to start writing.

If you want songs with lyrics:

Hidden Citizens
I can't rave about Hidden Citizens enough! They have music that was basically made to be written to. If you ever want a theme song for a particular character, chances are they'll have one for you.

Halsey
I've never watched any of her music videos because they look kinda weird, but Halsey's music is amazing. Some of them are just run-of-the-mill love songs and breakup songs, but there are also some (such as Castle and Control, highly recommend both!) that are made for fantasy writing.

Miles Morales: Into the Spiderverse Soundtrack
Clean hip-hop and rap. Need I say more? Again, good songs for all parts of the story. If you haven't already heard it, seriously, give it a try. You will love it.

If lyrics break your focus:

Doctor Who season soundtracks.  Chase music, funny music, beautiful ethereal music, the Doctor Who soundtracks have it all. You can find the soundtracks for individual seasons on YouTube or Amazon Music, but I don't think there's a complete playlist for them all, that's why it's not linked.

Lord of the Rings OST
The LOTR soundtracks, like the Doctor Who soundtracks, have a wide variety of feelings going through them. If you want sweet and sometimes sad music, I'd go for The Fellowship of the Ring. The Two Towers has a scarier feel to it. The playlist I've linked has all three soundtracks put together, but you can skip to whatever point you choose.

How To Train Your Dragon OST
A wonder-filled soundtrack if ever there was one. Some epic music thrown in there too. And this playlist has the soundtracks from HTTYD 1, 2, and 3.

This playlist of Disney piano covers
This playlist is basically the easiest thing to write to, ever. It's so relaxing, and some of the piano arrangements are gorgeous.

Hopefully you walk away from this with some new writing music to try! What's your favorite writing music? Let me know in the comments!
